I learned that post-secondary institutions are not required to meet learning accomadations. I also learned that there are apps for students with learning disabilities.
In this section, I realized that people with learning disabilities don't just graduate from school and the disability goes away. They live with it every day and go to jobs which affect their performance.
In this section, I learned what all of the different types of learning disabilities were. There were some that I had never heard of until now. I also thought it was sad to find out that 60% of people have an undiagnosed learning disability that leads to poor success in their lives when it could have been treated and maybe the person would have had a better outcome.
In this section, I have learned that students learn to read in stages. If one of these stages are interrupted or not mastered, then the student will have difficulty throughout the entire learning process.
I try to show all my students at once what is expected, I demonstrait and go step by step, I let them think for them self on the practical application. I wait and observe them to see if they follow what was taught. I see were they hit a road block on something and try to find out why they did, and show them why it has to be done a certain way. I belive in a good balnce of acedemic and hands on for learning anything. Patience and an open mind is the key!!!
Some people want to rediscover there life and get the experince , but it may never translate to that carrer field. I belive at a certain age some carrers are out of reach.
The information in this course has helped me to understand the significance of generational events and how impactful it is on the way a person will learn and interact with their peers. This is important because in order to have versatility in my teaching, I need to understand the most effective way to teach them. Having an understanding of a student's preference, such as whether they prefer more technological resources or more traditional resources for their learning, will help me ensure that I am setting them up for success in their future careers.
Different generations of students have varying learning preferences based on their upbringing, experiences, and technological exposure. Baby boomers may prefer the traditional lecture style with hands-on learning activities. Generation X values self-directed learning and practical application. Millennials tend to prefer interactive and collaborative learning experiences incorporating technology. Generation Z is a highly digital native and thrives on visual, interactive, and experiential learning methods. Understanding and adapting to these preferences can enhance engagement, retention, and overall learning outcomes from students across different generations.
This module taught me that each generation has unique and diverse environments. From baby boomers to generation Z, they have unique values, communication styles, and work preferences shaped by their upbringing and experiences. By recognizing and respecting these differences, individuals can foster better relationships, enhance teamwork, and create inclusive environments that leverage the strengths of each generation.
Many people in society fall under the generational differences but everyone is an individual.
